Umrah packages are set of services that are provided to Umrah pilgrims who want to perform Umrah in Makkah. These set of services facilitate a seamless experience for pilgrims from their landing in Saudi Arabia to their departure. Here are the services that get included in a typical Umrah package.
1. Return Flight
Umrah packages come with a return ticket from your home country to Saudi Arabia and back. Contrary to previous rules, now you can land at any airport in KSA even on your Umrah visa and then proceed to Makkah to perform Umrah. However, most Umrah pilgrims prefer to land at Jeddah airport due to its close proximity to Makkah and due to the fact that using this airport gives you lowest Umrah package prices. A bus or taxi ride from Jeddah airport to Makkah takes only about 2 hours. So, it is highly recommended that you choose Jeddah as your landing airport when considering an Umrah package from any country.
2. Umrah Visa
The second most important part of Umrah packages is getting your Umrah Visa. This is a separate visa category specially designed for Umrah pilgrims and its cost is added to the Umrah package price from Pakistan. An Umrah visa has a validity of 3 months and you can conveniently perform Umrah within your visa duration. Important to note that Umrah visa allows you to visit any part of KSA. Umrah visa can be obtained online and paid online. It is an e-visa document that you can request when considering any Umrah package from any vendor.
3. Hotel Accommodation
The third and perhaps the most crucial part of an Umrah package is getting a hotel. Most Umrah packages come with preselected hotel options. But you must discuss your hotel preferences with Umrah agents. A good hotel means a great Umrah experience. Most hotel options in Makkah and Madinah may not be quality options, therefore, when deciding about your Umrah package hotel, do some research on the internet about the quality of the hotel as well as its proximity to the Haram.
4. Ground Transport
You’ll need to hire a taxi to reach Makkah or Madinah hotels. When buying an Umrah package, you can save money by getting transport added to your visa application. In this way, you get a cost-effective transport solution. It provides you a shared air-conditioned bus transport option which is pretty much ok. The only downside is that it can make you spend a bit more waiting time. In case you are going with family or elderly, you can choose private transport options in your Umrah package. You can ask your travel agent to arrange transport for you or you can hail a taxi anytime by yourself.
5. Health Insurance
It is now mandatory to have health insurance when you get an Umrah package. But the easy part is that KSA government automatically adds insurance to the price of the visa. So, you can rest assured that if you have a visa, you already have health insurance in your Umrah package.
6. Ziarat
It is an optional activity. If you have time, it is recommended that you take a sightseeing ride to the most holy places in Makkah and Madinah. The experience is blissful. You can opt for a cheaper shared Ziarat bus or get a private taxi to get you going places. Most Umrah packages come with Ziarat included but still double-check with your Umrah package provider beforehand.
